Play for the Strikers

The Singleton Strikers Football Club unites Community and Premier clubs. Our Premier Club is home to the Northern League Competition and Junior Development League. Our Community Club is home to Miniroos and Interdistrict competitions including youth, all age and over 35’s.

Based in Singleton in the Hunter Region, the Singleton Strikers currently compete in the following competitions:

Premier Football - Northern League One

The New FM Northern NSW State League is a regional Australian semi-professional football league. The league sits at Level 2 on the New South Wales league system and fields players form Under 13’s, 14’s, 15’s, 16’s, 18’s, Reserve’s and First Grade.

Trials are held at the end of the football season each year.

Premier Football - Junior Development League

SSFC is proud to offer the Junior Development League (JDL) program to the Hunter and Upper Hunter Region.

WHAT IS JDL?

To provide potentially talented players with the best possible learning environment through a specific Skill Acquisition Program delivered by clubs competing in Northern NSW Football’s Premier Competitions.

JDL is non-competitive and focuses on individual skill development for under 9’s – under 12’s.

JDL provides a pathway for potentially talented players to represent a club from the age of 9 through to Seniors in the National Premier Leagues (NPL NNSW), Women’s Premier League (WPL) or Northern League 1 (NL1).

JDL provides Premier Clubs with an opportunity to identify and develop players for the respective youth competitions as opposed to identifying players from u/12 community clubs.

AIM

JDL is for players within the Skill Acquisition Phase.

The focus of the Skill Acquisition Phase of football development is to develop each individual player’s four (4) core skills:

  • 1v1
  • Running with the ball
  • First touch
  • Striking the ball

Whilst games are an important element of player development, it is important that progress is not measured by results or team performance but rather the progress of each individual player.

An absolute requirement is placed on an immediate skills transfer into positioning and small-sided games. It is based on world’s best practice and has been developed by internationally acclaimed technical coaches and the FFA technical department.

HOW OFTEN WILL JDL TEAMS PLAY?

Generally JDL teams play most weekends from March through to September. Games may be held on either a Saturday or a Sunday. This is not a result based competition; it‘s about development only.

WHEN DO THE JDL TEAMS TRAIN?

JDL teams generally train together as a squad two evenings per week in Singleton for approximately 1.5 hours per session.

WHEN AND HOW CAN I TRIAL TO BE SELECTED FOR THE SINGLETON STRIKERS FOOTBALL CLUB JDL  SQUAD?
